Features
a) Ooshma was developed with VB and OpenGL as frontend. The background logic has been developed in C++ and integrated with the VB platform.
b) Ooshma plots the trends of various performance parameters for shell & tube heat exchangers in Microsoft Excel. Reports generated in excel can then be used for further analysis.
c) Ooshma exports the 2D drawings of the components and the sub assemblies in AutoCAD applications.
d) Ooshma can suggest the optimized design of the shell & tube heat exchanger within the given design constraints.

Conclusion
Thus Ooshma was developed to predict the performance of the shell & tube heat exchangers.
a) If we give the design output and the design constraints as the input in Ooshma the software can suggest the optimized design of the shell & tube heat exchangers.
b) Ooshma can also calculate the pressure drop and the temperature loss in the shell & tube heat exchangers.
c) Ooshma uses the basic “shell tube” heat exchanger equations, validated through CFD analysis and experimentation.
d) Ooshma interface is currently customized for automobile Exhaust Gas Recirculator. (EGR).
Objective
In a shell & tube heat exchangers predicting the performance parameter stands to be an important factor. So the main objective of this project was to develop software which would predict the performance parameter for a shell & tube heat exchangers. The software should also calculate the temperature drop and the pressure losses in the shell & tube heat exchanger. This project was intended to develop software which would be user friendly, if we give the input of the shell and tube parameters the results showing the performance parameters can be viewed.
